Greetings and Salutations, Rustonians!
I’m Mattyman, here with a few thoughts on what The Rusty Playgound can and hopefully will be, assuming we can get past our fears, doubts, loathing, and self-recriminations. And then there’s getting out of bed.
So here we are, taking a stab at this chatty format to both enlighten those who did not live through the 80s and its many idiosyncrasies (New Coke, anyone?), and reconnect with fellow Gen X-ers over our mutual Sid-and-Marty-Krofft-themed recurring nightmares.
We’re here not to bury but praise the years that gave us “Liddsville”, the Doobie Brothers on “What’s Happening”, a Star Wars “Holiday Special”, “V: The Mini Series”, and “Alf”; that is to say, a wacked love letter to the Pop Culture that made us weird. Face it, folks…a generation that watched Bing Crosby sing with David Bowie was ready for just about anything.
Last but certainly not least, I thank my wife from the bottom of my heart for giving me the courage to go forth with this adventure as she was the one who INSISTED for several years I do a Podcast. I would not be up to doing this with Vanny otherwise.
And with that, Welcome to the Playground!
Yours,
Mattyman
